The Good Captain Co. is a Santa Barbara–based commercial diving and harvest operation owned and operated by John and Lindsey Hoadley.
With lifelong ties to the California coastline, John has spent more than two decades working beneath the waters between San Diego and Monterey. For 16 years, he has operated as a commercial sea urchin diver in Santa Barbara, building a reputation for precision harvest practices and professional marine operations.
In 2019, the Hoadleys expanded their operations into the Santa Barbara California spiny lobster fishery. The Good Captain Co. remains a family-owned and operated business committed to supplying responsibly harvested seafood to local restaurants and regional markets. Seasonal offerings include red sea urchin, California spiny lobster, sea cucumber, crab, whelk, and select finfish species.
The company’s foundation is built on professional diving experience, regulatory compliance, ecosystem stewardship, and long-term sustainability.
